A sampling of applications for the device include: •simulators that require a substitute for real binoculars (e.g. air traffic control, ship handling, aircraft identification) •public exhibits that require unassisted use of immersive displays •workstation based virtual reality applications |
The VB•30 is a flexible, high resolution, hand-held display for visualization and virtual reality applications. Incorporating high-resolution microdisplays, the VB•30 offers additional features such as mouse compatible buttons, a hand-held ergonomic shell and an integrated tripod mount, to complement a variety of applications. Designed for ease-of-use, the VB•30 is comfortable, easy to grip and mounts quickly to a tripod. Tracking sensors are easily mounted internally, making them unobtrusive to the user. Underneath the rugged plastic shell that houses the VB•30 are fittings for a standard threaded tripod mount enabling static mounting of the display using off-the-shelf fixtures. |
Integrated mouse-compatible buttons are conveniently positioned on the top-right side of the unit. Uses for the buttons include zoom control, toggling symbology, and motion control in virtual environments. The display features a pair of high-resolution (1.44 million pixels) 0.49-inch screens, providing a virtual image size similar to a 44-inch display at a distance of 2 meters. The VB•30 is compatible with a wide range of video and computer input formats. The VB•30 was designed for applications with limited budgets requiring an easy-to-use, immersive display. The intuitive interface of the VB•30 lends itself well to applications ranging from public exhibits to low-cost military trainers. |
